YouTube Playlist Length Calculator
Paste a YouTube playlist link to get its total duration — plus video count, average length, longest and shortest videos, and the watch time at up to 2× speed. No account or API key needed.
What this tells you
YouTube shows how many videos a playlist has, but not how long it runs. Whether you’re sizing up a course before committing, planning a study schedule, queuing background music for a road trip, or wondering if you can binge a series in a weekend, the missing number is the total runtime. This calculator reads every video’s duration straight from the public playlist page and adds them up — including playlists with hundreds or thousands of videos.
How it works
Give it any link with list= in it: a youtube.com/playlist?list=… page, a video you opened from a playlist, a youtu.be share link, or the raw playlist ID (PL…, UU…, OLAK5uy_…). The tool fetches the playlist’s public page the same way your browser would and totals the durations — nothing to install, nothing to sign into.
Working with a channel instead of a playlist? Grab its ID with the YouTube Channel ID Finder or build its feed with the YouTube RSS Feed Generator.
Now watch it like a TV channel
Knowing a playlist is 14 hours long is one thing — actually getting through it is another. Channel Surfer turns YouTube into lean-back cable TV: tune into a channel and it just keeps playing, no clicking the next video, no autoplay-roulette. Press play once and let the playlist run like a TV marathon. It’s free to start.
Frequently asked questions
How do I check the total length of a YouTube playlist?
Paste the playlist's link (any URL containing list=…) or its playlist ID into the box above and click Calculate. You'll get the total duration, the number of videos, the average video length, and how long the playlist takes at 1.25×, 1.5×, 1.75×, and 2× playback speed.
Does this work for any playlist?
It works for any public or unlisted playlist, including very long ones (durations are read page by page, up to several thousand videos). Private playlists, Watch Later, and Liked Videos can't be read because YouTube only shows those to the signed-in owner. YouTube Mixes (IDs starting with RD) have no fixed length — they're generated endlessly per viewer.
Do I need a YouTube account, login, or API key?
No. Paste a link and go. The tool reads the public playlist page itself — it never asks you to sign in and doesn't use your YouTube account.
Why is the video count different from what YouTube shows?
Deleted, private, and region-blocked videos still count toward the number YouTube displays on the playlist page, but they can't be watched, so they carry no duration. The calculator counts every readable video and tells you when some videos didn't report a duration.
How long would the playlist take at 2× speed?
The results include the watch time at 1.25×, 1.5×, 1.75×, and 2× — the total duration divided by the playback speed. A 10-hour playlist is 5 hours at 2×.
Can I watch the whole playlist without clicking each video?
Yes. Channel Surfer turns playlists, channels, and your whole subscription list into lean-back TV channels that just keep playing — press play once instead of picking videos. It's free at channelsurfer.tv.
