Persistent Closed Captioning

Currently, the only way to enable CC is with the keyboard shortcut (C), but it resets and gets disabled every time the video (or the channel) changes. It would be helpful to have the CC button on the video controls and for it to be persistent across sessions.

I’m going to put this in the options. You’ll be able to enable “Always show options” in the options menu.

That way you can enable it and it continues to show subtitles as you change channels.

Hi! The “Always show options” works, but the closed captions don’t persist between videos or channels. I cleared cache an tried in Chrome and Edge.

The weird thing is that two nights ago (and just for that night) the CC persistence actually worked between channels and videos. The version shown was still 1.5.1 but I figured you were making changes behind the scenes. Then it stopped working with the change to 1.5.2.

Not sure if this is the place for bug reports or if I’m missing something.

Thanks again. This app was just what I was looking for :)

Hmm interesting. Thank you for reporting!

I think it’s because YouTube is rolling out its new player. I notice this doesn’t work on the new one. I see the old player in Chrome and it doesn’t work.

I’ll see if I can get this working in their new player.

It’s working now! Whatever you did since yesterday, it’s good. Thank you.
Update: it stopped working. It might be a problem on my end.
